It is one of the coastal entities of the municipality of Arona, being surrounded by the locality of Las Galletas except for its coastline. It is located approximately 15 kilometers from the municipal capital and at an average altitude of 20 meters above sea level.

The entity is formed by the population centers of La Estrella del Sur, Finca La Estrella and El Fraile.2

It has the El Fraile Primary and Secondary Education Center, the Villa Isabel Civic-Cultural Center, a Youth House, the Municipal Chess School, a health center, a municipal children’s center, the parish church of Santa Isabel de Portugal , Several Protestant churches – Seventh Day Adventist, Christian Evangelical and Evangelist Light of the World -, the municipal soccer fields Dionisio González and Villa Isabel, a municipal sports pavilion, plazas and public parks, gas station, several playgrounds, pharmacies , Numerous shops, as well as bars, restaurants, parlors, supermarkets, bookshops, cafes, etc.

The Friary houses a paleontological deposit characterized by a matrix of calcareous algae strongly cemented, with remains of shells of marine mollusks typical of warm waters. It was declared Good of Cultural Interest in 2007 as Punta Negra Paleontological Zone.

In El Fraile, patron saint festivities are celebrated in honor of St. Elizabeth of Portugal in July, with religious and popular events taking place. It emphasizes the realization of a romería with floats decked out by the streets of the locality.

It is accessed mainly through the TF-66 general road from San Lorenzo Valley to Las Galletas.
