The INLabs propose to experiment with new technologies through innovative methodologies.
The Cultural Center of Los Cristianos hosts until this Friday (January 5) an innovation lab (INLab) for young people from 12 to 17 years old. The objective of this activity, promoted by the Cabildo de Tenerife (through the area Tenerife 2030 and the scientific and technological park of Tenerife Intech) and with the collaboration of the Department of Youth of the City of Arona, is that participants learn skills such as teamwork, critical thinking and creative problem solving, all in a playful way, through the management of challenges and with the support of technological skills.
The Councilor for the Youth, Sports and Human Resources area of the City Council, Juan Sebastián Roque, and the Councelor of Innovation and responsible for the strategy Tenerife 2030 of the Cabildo, Antonio García Marichal, visited yesterday (2 January) the Arona laboratory, which It started on December 26 and has 20 participants.
During the visit, Juan Sebastián Roque pointed out that,
we have launched a strategy aimed at young people and young people who, in addition to actions of coexistence, socio-cultural integration and environmental respect, are committed to training and acquiring tools and skills that allow them to fully access the labor market and achieve Personal development. For this reason, we have received this laboratory of innovation with great pleasure, because we share the end of an initiative that, through technology and leisure, seeks to promote creativity and bring young people closer to science “.
García Marichal stressed that,
the INLabs are actions included within the programming of the School of Innovation developed by the Science and Technology Park of Tenerife. We will make a total of 30 free innovation labs during the current school year during the holiday periods, which include Christmas, Carnival, Easter and summer. The goal of the INLab is that young people become protagonists of their own learning, actively participating in the solution of the challenges through an innovative pedagogical model. They will grow personally through curiosity, research and their own creativity, motivated by the content and not only by the technology itself “, said the counselor.
With an innovative pedagogical model, the aim is to motivate the content and not only the technology itself, in an environment in which the participants ask, search, explore, investigate and be builders of their knowledge, giving them the opportunity to express and contribute their ideas so that, ultimately, they are the protagonists of their own learning.
The fields that will be addressed in the innovation laboratories will be, among others, educational robotics, programming, 3D printing, the development and use of drones, digital communication and how to manage in a multidisciplinary environment, in which girls and boys do not They are mere users or observers, but actively participate in the solution of the challenges.
