The City of Arona has two spaces in the most important event in the tourism sector in Spain, which will serve to highlight the organization of national and international events that make the municipality more competitive for the future and, for the first time, will be audited to verify the effectiveness of the investment of public funds and the benefits on the local economy and the return they generate.
The mayor, José Julián Mena, highlights that “in addition to the investments we have made in the last two years in a new hotel plant and in renovating the existing one, we are working on the improvement of public spaces and take a public leisure offer to FITUR complementary that aims to give support to the sector at a time when the favorable international conjuncture begins to show signs of normalization “.
“Arona, where life lives“. Under this theme, the City of Arona attends this year to the most important international tourism fair in Spain, FITUR, positioning itself as a reference tourist destination in the organization of major events and emphasizing the experience of the stay and spending in the municipality compared to other destinations, a fundamental differentiating strategy to guarantee its competitiveness in the coming years, when the current favorable situation begins to decline.
For the first time, in addition, all these events will be audited by specialized companies, which will provide information to taxpayers and the City Council of the economic and reputational benefits obtained with the investment of public money.
The presentations will be made in the two spaces that the municipality will have en FITUR. One of them, the main one, together with the other four destinations that are part of the Alliance of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands (AMTC), and the other one in FITUR Festivals, besides the place that it will occupy, as always, in the stand of PROMOTUR. In the 2017 edition more than 39,000 people passed through the spaces shared by Arona.
In the first two will be the main presentations to the press, to potential visitors and, above all, to the professionals of the sector specialized in the commercialization of national and international events.
There they will be able to witness the presentations of the new edition of the ARN Culture & Business Pride, Tenerife Fashion Week, the scoring test for the international surf circuit “Las Americas Pro” and the International Carnival of Los Cristianos, whose constant growth and importance for the local economy will be put into value.
All these presentations will have the presence of prominent, well-known and prestigious personalities of the social and cultural scene, both local and national, of worldwide projection and that will be unveiled during the days of the fair.
Mena: “We attract new investments and we improve the public space”
The first of the spaces of Arona, the one that shares with the AMTC, is the stand E04 of the pavilion 9. This has an area of 100 square meters, it contains the logos of the five municipalities represented and has different spaces for meetings and for promotions, as well as a large area for public presentations.
The second, with an area of 18 square meters, is the stand 3fES of the pavilion 12, within FITUR Festivals, and allows the municipality to use the large presentation space located in the center of the pavilion itself.
The mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, stressed that the municipality,
In addition to the investments it has received in the last two years in a new hotel plant and in renovating the existing one, it works on the improvement of public spaces and brings to the fair a complementary public offer of leisure that aims to support the sector in a moment in which the favorable international situation that we have had in the last years begins to give symptoms of normalization “.
For his part, the Councilor for Tourism of the City of Arona, David Pérez, explained that,
We are consolidating a differentiating offer with which Arona can be competitive on its own, which, together with the great effort being made by the sector as a whole, makes up an increasingly attractive and diverse municipality. Our main objective is to continue diversifying markets and improving the quality of the profile of the tourist who visits us.”
