Playa de las Américas hosts the ARN Culture & Business Pride, the only festival in the world that organizes the most prestigious international international awards that recognize the work of people related to the LGTBIQ collective.


The ceremony was conducted by the actresses Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo, Kira Miró and the actor Brays Efe and featured the performances of the Icelandic GusGus and the Lisbon Surma.

Arona, Saturday June 2, 2018 – The Golf Course of the Americas last night became a real gathering of illustrious personalities with the celebration of the second edition of the Alan Turing Awards 2018, which the City of Arona awards to relevant national figures and international, as well as organizations and institutions, for their commitment to the LGTBIQ collective.

The ARN Culture & Business Pride, organized by the Arona Tourist Board, is the only festival in the world that organizes a gala of this magnitude. The most prestigious global international awards recognize the work of people related to the LGTBIQ collective that have been essential in the fight for equal rights and visibility of it.

Relevant personalities such as the Harvey Milk Foundation, Ana Helena Chacón, Boris Izaguirre, Nacho Duato, Alaska and Palomo Spain, among others, gathered in the municipality of Tenerife to receive their award for their work and support for the LGTBIQ collective on a gala evening and celebration.

At 9:30 p.m., the photocall of the Alan Turing Awards 2018 was illuminated with the flashes of the flashes of photographers and journalists who waited for the winners and other guests who paraded with glamor on the red carpet. This unique event in Spain started at around 10:30 pm with a light off and then a series of LGTBIQ landmarks. Minutes later, actress, activist and politician Carla Antonelli appeared on the scene, giving an emotive and motivating speech about the group. Immediately after, the actresses Cayetana Guillén-Cuervo and Kira Miró and the actor Brays Efe appeared on the stage. This trio of films was in charge of officially starting the ceremony mentioning the deceased mathematician Alan Turing prosecuted for his homosexuality.

An entertaining and entertaining gala, in which almost a score of professionals and personalities from different sectors, took the stage to pick up their statuette proud, excited and grateful. Some did it by videoconference, like the transgender minister of Taiwan Audrey Tang, who did not want to miss such a special night despite the distance.

The mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, was in charge of delivering the Alan Turing Award Commitment to the second ex-vice president of Costa Rica, Ana Helena Chachón. For his part, the Councilor for Tourism of Arona, David Pérez, gave the People Award to the singer Alaska.

The musical moments of the ceremony were given by the Lisbon-born Surma, creating a very intimate and attractive atmosphere with her experimental indie that captivated everyone. And the musical apotheosis broke out with the Icelandic GusGus, one of the most prestigious groups of electronic music that made the audience vibrate with its staging.

After this unforgettable, emotional and intense night many followed with the celebration in the party ‘I wanna pop’ of Papagayo Beach Club.

Rodríguez Zapatero and Juan F. López Aguilar. Innovation Award to the revolutionary minister of Taiwan and transgender Audrey Tang. Commitment to Ana Helena Chacón policy. Company Award to businessman Bernardo Hernández. Visibility Award in Sports to sportsman Víctor Gutiérrez. Spirit Award to activist Jordi Petit. International Artist Award for artist Justin Favela. Arona Award to the Daniel Rodríguez model. Communication Award to the director of the ICON magazine Lucas Arraut. Foundation Award to the Harvey Milk Foundation. Social Organization Award to UNHCR. Organization Award Committed to CESIDA.
