Technicians from the state company Segittur, a public body under the Ministry of Tourism, met this afternoon with representatives of the sector to expose them and achieve their involvement in the main lines of work of the “Smart Destination” initiative, in which Arona joined last January.
Technicians of the state society Segittur met this afternoon with representatives of the business tourism sector of the Southern Region to explain the main lines of work of the initiative “Smart Destination” and promote their involvement in it, a meeting that took place in Los Cristianos, chaired by the mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, who has been accompanied by the Councilor for Tourism, David Pérez, and for a good part of the government group.
“Smart Destination” is an initiative led by Segittur, a body under the Ministry of Tourism, which aims to promote the transformation of the main Spanish tourist destinations into “smart“, technologically advanced destinations, as one of the pillars that guarantee its competitiveness in an increasingly complex market and in which the tourist profile evolves with great rapidity.
Today’s meeting sought to explain the main lines of work in which Segittur and the City Concil of Arona collaborate to advance on the path towards a tourist destination fully adapted to new technologies and achieve the involvement of the sector in that change.
José Julián Mena explained that,
… Arona’s commitment to deepen the strategy of becoming “an intelligent, interconnected and technologically innovative tourist destination guarantees the competitiveness of the municipality.” Technology plays a decisive and growing role in the choice of destinations and decisions of purchase of tourists, especially millennials.”
